Couple retreat but not for the budget!

The view to the castle was amazing, every night I sat by the window and admired it. One time, I even asked for gluten-free bread at dinner and they made sure to have it ready.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Azz Penafiel Las Claras Hotel & Spa. The historic convent was beautifully restored, offering a tranquil setting. The spacious double room was comfortable, and I appreciated the attentive staff, especially during breakfast, which featured high-quality foods.

No English TV channels.

The room was spacious, perfect for our family with a cot for our toddler. Breakfast included hot milk for cereal, which was a nice touch. The quiet courtyard was great for relaxation. Exploring nearby attractions was fun!

In my wife’s opinion, the shower needed better slip-resistant features.

We had an awesome time with friends exploring nearby wineries and taking in the vibrant nightlife. The hotel was a nice base, featuring comfortable rooms and a gorgeous building. Breakfast was decent, and the helpful staff gave our stay a nice touch. Definitely recommend walking around to enjoy the cultural offerings like museums and theaters.

We did experience some disappointment when the spa was closed right after our arrival, which was a letdown after the long drive. It opened late and limited options for relaxing before heading back home.

It was just an ideal choice for a trip in Penafiel with great value-to-price ratio. The pool area was nice enough for relaxing on a warm day. Check the pool hours. they might change unexpectedly.
